I'm still hear!

Sorry, I disappeared for a while there, I had a deadline at collage and things coming at me from all sides, though I think I may have to get used to that as I don't think it's gonna let up until sometime in the new year!

The last project at collage was a theatrical one where we have make a hat similar to one from a picture from history, this 50's picture hat was my inspiration. It's made in brown fake straw. I may have to find a reason to wear it!

The perfect Boot.

I have been looking for the perfect boot for a long time now and I think I may have come close to finding it, I was reading the lovely Una's blog over at Sewinswing and she showed a lovely pair of shoes by Fluevog and I thought I'd have a look at what other lovelies they do and oh my I was not disappointed. Just look, I'm not sure witch pair I want more. Alas they are not available in the uk but I shall keep wishing(and saving!).

pins N needles

One of the things that is keeping me busy at the moment is an expansion of the knitting group I help run at a local pub the Fox & Firkin. The pub has always been a bit alternative and has supported local bands for years and the lovely manageress decided she wanted to extend that love to the crafty among us. So as well as knitting there is going to be craft things going on and a clothes swap, with me on hand with my trusty sewing machine(Edith) to help people. It should be a fun night, we are launching on Wednesday the 28th October so if you are in the lewisham area please do pop in. The facebook group is here.

Tattoo weekend.

I've been so busy lately I've hardly stopped but I did spend my weekend at the London tattoo convention, there were so may amazing artists to see and bands plating and all sorts, but I've not caught up with myself yet!

The Tobacco dock is a grate place, it has pirate ship and everything! I got so wraped up in things that I hardly took any photos though, sorry.

I'm famouse!

Well in the borough of Lewisham any way!
Me and some friends run a knitting group in my local pub and were recently approached by our local council magazine for an interview and somehow I ended up on the cover! I'm no model and it was a really odd experience. The cover pic was taken in the street because the light wasn't right inside! The magazine is distributed for free round lewisham and if we'd only been in the mag and not on the cover no one would know as know as I'm not sure anyone actually reads it, but as it is all my friends have been texting me to say they got home and found me staring up at them from there door mat!

I love that the feathers are made out of the same felt as the hat, I'll have to give that a try some time.

I'm not sure where this is from but they are lovely illustrations .

I do love a matching hat and handbag combo.

walking along the southbank

I took a lovely walk along the Southbank last week and  would highly recommend it to anyone in London as there is a amazing exhibition on at the Hayward gallery  called Walking in my mind that has spilled over on to the Southbank in the form of red and white polka dot trees.

The dots have provided space for lots of graffiti.

The exhibition uses all the spaces at the Hayward indoors and out. I love these big shapes.

Though not as much as this group of kids did!

Outside the National theatre are these amazing giant sofas aren't they fun.

I took some pictures with my Holga and Diana cameras too, I'll show you those once they are developed.

my stall

I've not been around because I had a stall of the things I  make at a little music event, as ever I had left lots of things to the last minute so last week was a bit crazy. It went really well though and was nice and sunny so sitting around outside was a pleasure.

May I introduce the Catford cat

Ok so I live in south east London near an area called Catford and the somewhat sad shopping centre there has this giant cat presiding over the entrance, it's not a grate photo but I love him very much!

A holiday.

I had such a lovely weekend, I felt like I was on holiday in my own city! I visited a friend who lives in east London and we had a weekend of fabulous food. We started with traditional pie and mash at G Kelly's on the Roman Road. Then after enjoying the February sun in Victoria park we had afternoon tea at The Empress of India, it was really good and the scones were so fresh and warm, it was such a treat. we may have pushed the boat out and had  champagne too so no wonder I felt like I was on holiday!

On Sunday we took a lovely walk down brick lane to Spitalfields market, I love doing this but as ever my eyes were so on stalks I forgot to take any photos!

I got this Duaflex camera through today and I'm really exited about having a go at taking photos through it. You use this camera as am extra lens for your digital camera and the results can be amazing

These are my first couple of go's just in my room, I'm exited to get out on a photo mission to take more.

A hat for a friend.

Although I'm spending quite a lot of my free time knitting, I did find time to make my friend a hat for her birthday.
Before I put the flower on it looked like a big chocolate button!

The flower took me an age to embroider because the thread was horrible to use and the felt is so thick to sew through.

 I hope she likes it!
